and Squirrels"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I would like to share this blog from last year.\u00a0 It might help you with some ideas for the birds and squirrels and keep you entertained during the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, those birds are really making their appearance known at the feeders, and let me tell you\u2026 it&#8217;s busy.\u00a0 Time to make a wish list for the birds&#8230; and squirrels.\u00a0 Here we go!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Chickadees<\/strong> \u2013 peanut halves and sunflower hearts, hmmm, and maybe some suet nuggets<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/urbannaturestore.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/chickadee-1980888_1920.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1001\" width=\"277\" height=\"184\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cardinals<\/strong> \u2013 lots of safflower, and maybe some peanut halves<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/urbannaturestore.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/snow-3271389_1920.jpg?w=810\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-564\" width=\"278\" height=\"188\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Goldfinches<\/strong> \u2013 nyjer seed and finch and friends<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/urbannaturestore.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/goldfinch-in-ozark-winter-3777729_1920.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1006\" width=\"281\" height=\"187\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Woodpeckers<\/strong> \u2013 definitely need to stock up on suet and peanut halves,&nbsp; don&#8217;t forget the Mill Creek Insect and Nut suet, definitely a favourite of theirs and will serve as Christmas Dinner<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/urbannaturestore.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/woodpecker-3643068_1920-1.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1033\" width=\"277\" height=\"184\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mourning Doves <\/strong>\u2013 more safflower and white millet<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/urbannaturestore.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/mourning-dove-3591135_1920.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1007\" width=\"274\" height=\"182\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Junco&#8217;s<\/strong> \u2013 white millet and finch and friends<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/urbannaturestore.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/dark-eyed-junco-938546_1920.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1008\" width=\"277\" height=\"238\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Blue Jays<\/strong> \u2013 whole peanuts, these guys are pretty demanding, ohhh and corn cobs<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/urbannaturestore.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/blue-jay-1968992_1920.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1009\" width=\"270\" height=\"180\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Robins<\/strong> \u2013 yes I&#8217;m still seeing some, mealworms and possibly grape jelly<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/urbannaturestore.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/robin-1192321_1280.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1027\" width=\"269\" height=\"198\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nuthatches<\/strong> \u2013 sunflower hearts and peanuts&#8230; and suet<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/urbannaturestore.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/nuthatch-351395_1920.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1011\" width=\"271\" height=\"162\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>House finches <\/strong>\u2013 more safflower and sunflower hearts<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/urbannaturestore.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/house-finch-204925_1280.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1015\" width=\"273\" height=\"205\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>House Sparrows<\/strong> \u2013 these guys will have to share with the others, there&#8217;s just too many of them<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/urbannaturestore.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/sparrows-4347162_1280.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1013\" width=\"272\" height=\"153\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Purple Finches<\/strong> \u2013 safflower and sunflower hearts<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/urbannaturestore.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/pixnio-33849-725x487-1.jpg?w=725\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1017\" width=\"271\" height=\"182\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I suppose they&#8217;ll all want another heated bird bath too, getting a little crowded out there.&nbsp; Maybe the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.urbannaturestore.ca\/farm-innovators-four-seasons-sand-coated-ground-bird-bath\/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuc_XwcGw5gIVCr3ACh2QLAyiEAQYASABEgL0VPD_BwE\">Farm Innovators Four Seasons Ground Birdbath<\/a>, the Doves will probably use it for a meeting area, they sure like to stand in the water and around the edges. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/urbannaturestore.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/quick-view-ground-level-bird-bath-stone-baths-farm-innovators-four-seasons-heated.jpg?w=736\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1030\" width=\"479\" height=\"342\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.urbannaturestore.ca\/winter-roost-birdhouse\/\">Roosting Box<\/a> would be a nice present.&nbsp; I&#8217;ll have to situate it on the east side of the yard facing south.&nbsp; That should give them a place to take refuge when the weather outside is frightful.&nbsp; This will also serve as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.urbannaturestore.ca\/convertible-roost-birdhouse\/\">double gift<\/a> as they can use it for a bird house in the summer if I reverse the position of the opening to the top&#8230; good plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/urbannaturestore.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/convertible_roost_winter__27232.1539196693.1280.1280.jpg?w=914\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1024\" width=\"479\" height=\"535\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Next on the list \u2013 squirrels \u2013 a bag of our squirrel mix and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.urbannaturestore.ca\/handmade-ground-feeder\/\">new ground feeder<\/a>, possibly two as the Junco&#8217;s, American Tree Sparrows and the Doves like to dine at ground level.&nbsp; A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.urbannaturestore.ca\/squngee-deluxe-bungee-squirrel-feeder\/\">Squngee<\/a> for the squirrels would be fun, then I&#8217;ll have to get another bag of corn cobs to go with that.
