As you may be aware, we will soon be entering the spring migration season. White-throated sparrows, Kinglets, Orioles, Hummingbirds, Warblers and Ovenbirds are among some of the species that will be heading North to their breeding grounds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, during this migration period, birds face a significant threat\u2014window collisions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nearly 5 billion birds will migrate this spring in North America and 1 out of 5 will die from colliding with glass!\u00a0This is an extremely distressing and preventable occurrence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To mitigate this risk and help protect our winged companions, Urban Nature Store<\/strong> strongly encourages you to take the following measures:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Treat Windows with\u00a0Feather-Friendly<\/a><\/em>\u00a0Window Markers:<\/strong>\u00a0Apply\u00a0feather-friendly<\/em>\u00a0window markers on your windows to make them visible to birds. These markers will help prevent collisions by breaking up the reflection and making the window more noticeable to the birds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Turn Off Porch Lights:<\/strong> During the migration season, turning off unnecessary porch lights at night can reduce the risk of birds becoming disoriented and colliding with buildings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
