{"id":1774,"date":"2022-08-17T11:05:00","date_gmt":"2022-08-17T15:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/urbannaturestore.blog\/?p=1774"},"modified":"2022-08-17T11:05:00","modified_gmt":"2022-08-17T15:05:00","slug":"understanding-binoculars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.mppdev.net\/index.php\/2022\/08\/17\/understanding-binoculars\/","title":{"rendered":"<strong>UNDERSTANDING BINOCULARS<\/strong>"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Birdwatchers love to have a good pair of binoculars.\u00a0 They can enhance our viewing experience allowing us to view birds in so much more detail.\u00a0 Maybe it\u2019s time to upgrade your binoculars, but you\u2019re intimidated by all the numbers and terms.\u00a0 Here is a breakdown of their meanings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Binoculars will have 2 numbers that are important to understand.\u00a0 These numbers are pronounced with the x meaning by and will look like these examples &#8211;\u00a0 8x(by)25, 8&#215;42, 10&#215;42, 12&#215;50 etc.\u00a0 The first number you see is the magnification.\u00a0 This makes the object appear that much larger or closer than it actually is.\u00a0 The second number refers to the size of the objective lens in mm.\u00a0 The larger the number means more light is gathered, and the brighter the object will appear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/test.mppdev.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/71sgkazuwfl._ac_sl1500_.jpg?w=979\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1776\" width=\"346\" height=\"361\" srcset=\"https:\/\/test.mppdev.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/71sgkazuwfl._ac_sl1500_.jpg 1434w, https:\/\/test.mppdev.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/71sgkazuwfl._ac_sl1500_-287x300.jpg 287w, https:\/\/test.mppdev.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/71sgkazuwfl._ac_sl1500_-979x1024.jpg 979w, https:\/\/test.mppdev.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/71sgkazuwfl._ac_sl1500_-768x803.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 346px) 100vw, 346px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The <em><strong>eyepiece<\/strong><\/em> is the lens you look into to view images through the binoculars.\u00a0 The <em>objective lens<\/em> is closest to the subject you are looking at and furthest from your eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Close Focus<\/strong><\/em> is how close the binoculars can focus on an object.\u00a0 You will want to look for a pair that gives you a close focus of 6-12 feet.\u00a0 This is an important consideration if you are observing small birds or butterflies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Field of View<\/strong><\/em> is the area that can be seen when looking through the binoculars.\u00a0 A large field of view makes it easier to locate the subject.\u00a0 Binoculars with a higher magnification will have a reduced field of view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Eye Relief<\/strong><\/em> is the distance from the outer surface of the eyepiece lenses to the position of our eyes.
